Experimental pottery

Potters are carriers of knowledge and tradition and have a distinct connection to their local community. They carry forward the results of decades of trial-and-error. They transmit know-how from one generation to the next.

We organise hands-on workshops that offer an introduction to pottery techniques and traditional clay recipes and become acquainted with the craft of pottery and its craftsmen.
Wondering about ancient techniques and finding out about tradition in the art of pottery which is still alive today:

what type of soil is used for clay?
How do you build a pottery kiln?
How are the different types of pottery vessels made?
plus
at what temperature are ceramics fired in the kiln?
At what temperature can you prepare meals in a pottery vessel?

We look, listen and learn about pottery processes. By lending a hand we are initiated into the secrets of the craft.
